Mr. Teeka Ram Meena is a name as prominent as any in Kerala’s political and administrative
landscape. A 1988 batch IAS officer from a traditional Rajasthani family, Mr. Meena cracked the
civil service examination against considerable odds, becoming the only educated sibling among
his brothers and sisters. Over a career spanning more than 35 years, he served in the Planning
Commission, worked as an economic advisor to the Prime Minister, and is best known for his role
as Chief Electoral Officer and Additional Chief Secretary in the Government of Kerala. His
autobiography, ‘Tholkkilla Njan,’ sheds light on the challenges a bureaucrat faces across different
political regimes.
